If you love Fashion, you know Christian Dior, and I don’t mean the John Galiano, edgy Dior of today, whom I also love, but the 50s one, who invented the New Look. Recently I received The Little Dictionary of Fashion, a guide to style, first published circa 1954, as a birthday gift and it was such a treat.
I am quite convinced I was born in the wrong era. How fashionably decadent. And one of my favorite quotes from the book: “Elegance must be the right combination of distinction, naturalness, care, and simplicity. Outside this, believe me, there is no elegance. Just pretension.”
