“Why don’t you own, as does one extremely smart woman, twelve diamond roses of all sizes?” Don’t just be your ordinary dull self. Why don’t you be ingenious and make yourself into something else? -Diana Vreeland
There is nothing more that I can say about this iconic fashion muse that hasn’t already been said, however, her legacy in fashion is worth remisnicing over time and time again.
A must read for every fashion lover is, Allure, D.V., Diana Vreeland’s autobiography, with foreword by Marc Jacobs. The book is a compilation of work by some of the most influential photographers of this century, such as Horst, De Meyer, Avedon and Beaton, and features iconic fashion personalities like Garbo, Queen Mary, Duchess of Windsor, and Josephine Baker just to name a few.
Sometimes I wonder what the divine Mrs. V would say about the way most people dress today….? She probably would reply, “…most people are not something one thinks about.”
