First, I want to say that I hope everyone in my home states of New York and Connecticut, as well as all of the states affected by Hurricane Sandy, made it safely through the storm. Prayers for the families who had damage or lost their homes and/or family members. I hope we all make a speedy recovery and get some sense of normalcy very soon.
The start of this fall season has been rather hectic for me, which is good, but it has been challenging just finding time to write and share my experience on the blog. Now that things have started to dwindle down a bit, I figured it would be the perfect time to share it with you all. Read on…
The season started off in September with my first ever, European show for the spring 2013 collection in Milan, Italy. An event, which I’d like to consider thus far, as one of the biggest accomplishments of my emerging career as a designer. Not only was it great showing my work there, I also cherish the whole experience that came with it. I was happy to represent my city of NYC, and I am truly grateful for all of the support that I received, as well as for the amazing team that I was fortunate to work with. It was an unforgettable experience in every sense of the word.
I have to yet again, thank everyone who contributed to the success of this event. It is a long list of names, but I could not go without mentioning each and every one of them formally here on the blog. My amazing family and friends at home, my brother Alberto and my parents. My partners/sponsors, Skye Nisnisan for all of the amazing work her and her team at Threelogies Events and Embassy Productions did at the show as well as the look book photo shoot. Societa Finanziaria Italiana, GolfPeople Club Magazine, GetFit Milan, Five Diamonds and their team, IKE Milano watches for their sponsorship and providing the accessories, Ristorante Savini Milano and Bvlgari Hotels and Resorts Milano, for their incredible hospitality during our many meetings, castings, fittings, cocktail sessions and dinners.
I must also thank Arlene Hamilton, Vicky Hunte here in NYC. In Milan, Giulia Belida and Jane Salazar, who never left my side throughout the four days after my arrival in Italy leading up to and during the show. Stefano Bechini for the support and some real Italian hospitality, Camilla Maldita Bechini (English Bulldog pet, for her moral support) DJ Peejay Player for the awesome beats, Felice Covelli, OFWorld, Camae Cabrera Manaloto, Gila Imagery, Kheidy Mendez, Joel Ventura, Noel Duran, Dennis Lacerna, Mark Laurence Omana and Sherwin Salcedo for the photography and filming of the show. Kim Carandang, Bouian Mercado Casenas on hair and makeup. My gorgeous models, Silvia, Laura, Federica and Ekaterina; and last, but not least, everyone who attended the show, including my dear friends who came to support, Roberta Buccilli, Maria Caterina and everyone, who in some way or another participated and collaborated with this project. I tried to mention everyone, but if I forget anyone, please forgive me; I am forever grateful, and I am excited to see/work with you all again in the future.
Four months of work and planning, countless sleepless nights and 10 hours of travel lead up to the 20 minutes that it took to present the collection at the show on Corso Sempione, but it was all so worth it! After Milan and all the work I did there, I spent some days in Paris for inspiration and some R&R, more on that later.
Needless to say, Europe was incredibly inspiring, and I can’t wait to go back soon. But enough ramble, scroll through to see images from the show. Enjoy!
